The Pudding Club
The Pudding Club was founded at Three Ways House Hotel in 1985 to prevent the demise of the traditional great British Pudding.
In the 1980’s it seemed as though such delights as Jam Roly Poly, Syrup Sponge, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Spotted Dick were rarities in the face of seductive competition from Black Forest Gateau and Frozen Strawberry Cheesecake.
The Pudding Club and its members can now proudly claim that because of their efforts the great British Pudding has reclaimed an enthusiastic following throughout the country – and beyond.
Over the years meetings of the Club have been featured on the BBC’s Food and Drink and Holiday programmes as well as numerous other TV, radio and press articles.
During June, July and August, the Pudding Club features summer delights like Cold Poached Salmon and New Potatoes; Gooseberry Fool and bowls of Summer Red Berries as well as Summer Pudding itself. Traditionalists won't be left out, as the parade of 7 puddings will still include favourites like Syrup Sponge and Sticky Toffee. With drinks served in the Patio Garden, the Summer Pudding Club is a lovely Midsummer occasion.
The cost of an evening at the Pudding Club is £33 per person (£34 from 1st December 2010), and as this is such a popular event you do need to book early. You don’t need to be a member to attend a meeting.
Today there is a full colour recipe book, the annual Great British Pudding Festival, a range of Pudding Club gifts – and even ‘Puddings by Post’ (members only) from the ‘Home of the Pudding Club’ itself.
